“Licht, lucht en ruimte”
Program:
Bach – Goldbergvariations (selection)
Debussy – Pagodes
Schulhoff – Fünf Stücke
Mayke Nas – New composition in comissioned by Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.
Bijlo has inherited achitect Berlage’s view (his own grandfather), that art should say something about the world we live in.
The Berlage Saxophone Quartet too, and that’s why it’s time: time to let great-grandfather and great-grandson reflect on the ideals of then and now. They are connected by the music, the music that transcends the spirit of the times. What is the situation with the “humanity” for whom Berlage sketched a beautiful Pantheon in 1915, in the middle of the First World War, which unfortunately was never actually built?
Wouldn’t it be a good idea to raise it on stage?
Yes lets do that. We make it from music and text, from words and tone.
